Beebee and the Bluebirds, a staple in the Icelandic music scene since 2010, continue to captivate audiences with their latest single, "The World of the Witch." Founded by singer and guitarist Brynhildur Oddsdóttir, the band has built a reputation for their dynamic performances at festivals like Iceland Airwaves and Reykjavik Blues Festival. Their journey included a 2019 tour in Sweden with Hammond player Andreas Hellkvist.
"The World of the Witch" showcases the band's
signature blend of funk, blues, and rock, with an edgier twist. The single,
recorded at Stúdíó Paradís and produced by Jóhann Ásmundsson of Mezzoforte,
features powerful riffs and electrifying guitar solos by Brynhildur. Inspired
by Iron Maiden, the song is a rallying cry for resilience and empowerment,
particularly for women who have faced similar struggles and possess strong
intuition.
The band’s lineup includes Brynhildur Oddsdóttir (vocals, electric guitar), Brynjar Páll Björnsson (bass), Halldór Sveinsson (keyboard), and Ásmundur Jóhannsson (drums). Their influences span from Jimi Hendrix to Halestorm, reflecting a sound that is both nostalgic and innovative.
With "The World of the Witch," Beebee and the
Bluebirds aim to reach a global audience, sharing their unique musical vision
and passion. As Brynhildur puts it, "Music doesn’t lie!"
