Join us as we delve into the evolution of ARVO, a one-man atmospheric melodic dark metal project, with its creator, Voron, exploring music, art, and personal expression.
1. Can
you share the journey of ARVO from its inception in 2011 to becoming a one-man
project in 2020? What inspired this transition?
Voron began
venturing into the dark realm of music in 2011, mastering the guitar as his
primary instrument. After participating in various metal bands, a
one-man-project was started in 2020 to realise author's own musical ideas. In
addition to music, the founder of the project paid a lot of attention to the
visual side of creativity, perfecting himself in photography, artwork and
tattooing. So far full-length albums have been realised. The plans are to
further develop and create new forms of dark music and artwork.
2. Your
music is described as atmospheric melodic dark metal with black metal roots and
rock influences. How do you blend these diverse genres to create your unique
sound?
I like
different genres of music and I try to take the essence from them. It happens
organically, on its own. That's how I feel about music.
3. Can
you talk about your creative process when composing new music? Do you start
with a specific concept in mind or let the music evolve naturally?
I usually
improvise in a certain mood. Often the drum beat, the groove, gives birth to
riffs and ideas. I never really thought about it.
4. You've
mentioned the importance of the visual aspect of your art. How do your skills
in photography, artwork, and tattooing influence and complement your music?
I often
imagine what the visuals for a particular piece of music would look like.
5. What
are some of the themes and stories you explore in your lyrics and
compositions? How do these reflect your personal experiences or worldview?
Undoubtedly,
I am expressing my life experience in music, my aesthetic taste and my own
understanding of what my work should represent.
6. As a
one-man project, how do you manage the different aspects of music production,
from songwriting and recording to mixing and mastering?
For many
years I have been used to working alone. This is the most comfortable option
for me. It does not present any difficulties for me.
7. What
are some of the challenges and advantages of being a solo artist compared to
being part of a band?
The essence
of this project is loneliness. A lone creator. I don't need other participants
to realise my own ideas.
8. How
has your musical style and approach evolved over the years, and what can fans
expect from your upcoming releases?
Expect my
music to evolve naturally. It's hard to say where this path will lead.
9. Can
you share any memorable experiences or milestones that have significantly
shaped ARVO's journey so far?
I was
looking for a way to get out of stress and I found the solution in creativity.
My music is a kind of psychotherapy for me. I'd be glad if it helps someone
else.
10. What
are your future plans for ARVO in terms of new music, collaborations, or
artistic projects? How do you envision the evolution of your sound and visual
art?
I plan to
release a full-length album, it is already ready, all that remains is to finish
the cover and I am preparing a video clip
