Fate of Destiny delivers raw emotion and resilience in their debut album, Silent Struggle. Exploring themes of inner conflict, triumph, and survival, the band crafts a powerful blend of melody and aggression.
1. What
inspired the central themes of resilience, inner conflict, and triumph in Silent
Struggle? Were these drawn from personal experiences or broader
observations of the human condition?
The themes
of Silent Struggle are a reflection of both personal
experiences and the broader struggles we see in the world around us. The idea
of battling inner demons, finding strength in moments of despair, and
ultimately triumphing over adversity felt universal and deeply personal at the
same time. It’s about capturing those silent battles we all face, whether it’s
mental health, relationships, or societal pressures.
2. Silent
Struggle features a dynamic mix of haunting melodies and heavy riffs.
How did you approach the songwriting and production process to balance these
contrasting elements?
Our goal
was to create a soundscape that mirrors the emotional highs and lows of the
album’s themes. We balanced the heavy riffs to represent aggression and
struggle with haunting melodies to capture vulnerability and introspection. The
songwriting process was very intentional—allowing each song to breathe and
evolve naturally while ensuring the contrasts felt cohesive.
3. Each
track tells a story of struggle and survival. Could you share the personal or
creative journey behind one of the songs, such as “Barely Surviving” or
“Unleash the Beast”?
“Barely
Surviving” was
born out of a place of desperation—a moment where holding on felt almost
impossible. It represents that razor-thin line between giving up and pushing
forward. The lyrics are raw, reflecting that mental tug-of-war, while the heavy
riffs symbolize the chaos of those emotions. “Unleash the Beast,” on
the other hand, is about taking control, channeling anger and frustration into
something powerful. It’s about reclaiming your strength and unleashing it
unapologetically.
4. How
has Fate of Destiny’s sound evolved since the band’s inception, and how
does Silent Struggle reflect that progression?
From the
beginning, we’ve been exploring the balance between melody and aggression.
With Silent Struggle, we feel like we’ve honed our identity. The
album showcases a more refined blend of introspection and power, and we’ve
become more confident in letting our emotions drive the music.
5. Your
lyrics are deeply introspective and emotionally charged. How important is
it for you to connect with your audience on a personal level through your
music?
It’s
everything to us. Music is a form of connection, a vessel for transferring of
emotions—when someone listens and feels understood, it validates their
emotions. We write from a deeply personal place, but the goal is always to
create something that resonates universally. If someone feels less alone
because of our music, we’ve done our job.
6. The
album’s tracklist follows an emotional arc. Was there a deliberate narrative or
structure in arranging the songs, and if so, what journey do you hope listeners
experience?
Yes, the
tracklist was carefully arranged to take listeners on an emotional journey. We
start with struggle and chaos, transition into moments of reflection and
vulnerability, and end with resilience and triumph. We hope listeners feel like
they’re walking through their own battles and coming out stronger by the end.
7. The
inclusion of NFTs alongside the album is a unique approach. What motivated
you to explore this medium, and how does it enhance the listener’s experience
of Silent Struggle?
The NFTs
allow us to extend the storytelling of Silent Struggle visually.
Each track’s NFT represents its unique themes and emotions, creating a
multi-sensory experience. It’s also a way to engage fans in a new and
innovative way, giving them something tangible to own as part of the journey.
8. The
title track, “Silent Struggle,” deals with themes of isolation and
vulnerability. How did you translate these emotions into the music and
lyrics?
We kept the
arrangement stripped down in places to let the vulnerability shine. The lyrics
are straightforward yet evocative, written as if talking to yourself in a
moment of isolation. Musically, the haunting melodies create an atmosphere of
introspection, while the heavier sections capture the intensity of breaking
free from that isolation.
9. Fate
of Destiny is described as blending melody and aggression. How do you see
this fusion defining your identity within the metal scene?
We see it
as a way to stand out. The fusion of melody and aggression allows us to tell
deeper, more nuanced stories. It’s not just about the heaviness—it’s about
creating contrast and emotion that leaves a lasting impact.
10. As a
band hailing from Belgium, do you feel that your local music scene has
influenced your sound or perspective as musicians?
Belgium has
a diverse and passionate music scene, and that diversity has definitely shaped
us. Being part of a smaller, tight-knit scene pushes us to innovate and find
our own voice. The support from local metal fans has been incredible and keeps
us motivated to bring our best.
11. With Silent
Struggle marking your debut album, what are your hopes for how it will
resonate with listeners and establish Fate of Destiny in the metal scene?
We
hope Silent Struggle connects with listeners on a personal
level and introduces them to our unique blend of melody and power. It’s about
building a relationship with our audience and earning our place in the metal
scene as a band that’s unafraid to explore raw, emotional themes.
12. What’s
next for Fate of Destiny? Are there plans for touring, collaborations, or
future releases following the launch of Silent Struggle?
For now,
we’re focused on promoting Silent Struggle through online
campaigns, social media, and our NFT collections. In the future, we’d love to
bring our vision to life with a live show that incorporates immersive visuals
and holograms but that is mainly a budget issue. We’re also exploring new ideas
for the next album with new art collection. The journey is just beginning!
