INSIDE HER explores life’s contrasts in their new single "Dusty Pink," blending industrial-metal with bass music. We dive into their inspirations, collaborations, and what’s next in this exclusive interview.
1.
Congratulations on the release of "Dusty Pink"! Can you tell us more
about the inspiration behind the song and its poignant narrative?
Thanks, glad to hear it! It's one of our observations of everyday life, that's
pretty much it, and since we like to merge genres we came with the idea of
showing the combination of two aspects of human nature musically; hence also
the title.
2. You’ve described "Dusty Pink" as an allegory for life’s
bittersweet journey. How do these themes tie into the overall concept of your
forthcoming album?
Pretty much every song has something to do with this bittersweetness. That's
our musical style, we like to mix colorful with cold and dark.
3. What was it like collaborating with NIKA, a renowned bass music DJ? How
did her vocals shape the song’s final form?
Like all our vocal guests on the album, NIKA's adding the female charm. Her
presence makes the lyrics sound more like a dialogue, there's more 'her' in
'inside her'.
4. The music video was filmed in Poznań’s ancient fortifications. What significance does this location hold, and how did it influence the visual storytelling?
Beside its visuals there was no bigger point behind it. We simply needed lots of space with an industrial, ruin-looking vibe.
5. How does "Dusty Pink" differ from your previous singles in terms of sound and style?
I'd say it's a pretty good representation of what we try to show with each song, just this time it's electronic melodies laid over a metal breakdown at some point.
6. Your music often delves into deep, introspective themes. What draws you to explore these darker and more complex emotions?
The darker and complex ones are more interesting to write about.
7. Industrial-metal has a very distinct energy. What challenges or advantages did you encounter blending it with the elements of bass music featured in this track?
It's mostly finding the right balance between the two; we struggle to match both sound and melodies right. The process is rarely fast, it's often months to find exactly what you're looking for.
8. Your second album is highly anticipated. Can you give us a glimpse into what listeners can expect in terms of themes, sound, or surprises?
It's a rollercoaster of genres, ideas, and occasional, sudden jumps into different directions. We hope listeners will bear with us.
9. The imagery in "Dusty Pink" speaks of masks and temptations. Do these concepts reflect personal experiences or broader societal observations?'
A bit of both.
10. With the release of your second album on the horizon, what’s next for INSIDE HER? Are there plans for a tour or additional collaborations?
The plan is to enter the rehearsal room and see what happens.
