Marine Corps veteran and internationally acclaimed guitarist Rene Benton has released his much-anticipated third album, 2 Live in O-Ma-Haw; Lyvv in Omaha, on November 30, 2024. This unique project blends music and storytelling, offering listeners an immersive exploration of Omaha’s evolving cultural identity.
The album,
recorded with longtime collaborators Troy Johnson (bass), Todd Roberson
(drums), and Algerian keyboardist Nidhal Keddah, captures the spirit of
Benton’s hometown. Known for his extensive touring across 42 U.S. states and
over 70 countries, Benton returns to Omaha with a fresh perspective.
With production credits from industry luminaries like Tim Zick (Mannheim Steamroller), Aaron Sprinkle (Demon Hunter), and Nino Laurenne (Sonata Arctica), the album features a polished yet emotive sound. Mastering was handled by Matthew Gray, with immersive Atmos mastering by Starsound Studios.
Described
as a “Documusical Xperience,” 2 Live in O-Ma-Haw combines Benton’s
signature guitar work with rich storytelling to reflect Omaha’s history and
transformation.
