The Total Sound Of The Undergound

Point Nemo bursts onto the scene with their raw and dynamic debut single, "STARVE." Drawing inspiration from legends like Linkin Park and Bring Me the Horizon, the band blends nostalgia with modern energy for a striking introduction.

1. Congratulations on the release of "STARVE."! How does it feel to have your debut single out in the world?

We are happy it’s finally out. We work for quite some time on this one, so having this song out in public is a very good feeling haha.

2. Can you tell us more about the band's journey? How did Point Nemo come together as a group?

Me and Paweł drop out from our previous band. We were looking for something new, we needed fresh start i asked Kuba if he wanted to join us, he did drop out from his band too so it was good timing for us, we met Kacper on the internet while we were looking for a drumer and that how it’s started.

3. The song "STARVE." draws inspiration from bands like Linkin Park and Bring Me the Horizon. How did these influences shape your creative process for this track?

We didn’t necessary wanted to make song like Bmth or LP it just turns out to be kinda like that cause we wanted to make song that feels modern but has something familiar, something we grow up to. While we were writing this song it was like „oh this sounds like this or this sounds like that” so we went that „familiar way”

4. You mentioned that the song was recorded during a major flood in Europe. How did this surreal backdrop affect your emotions and creativity while recording?

It was surreal that’s a fact. We were driving by the towns and villages affected by the flood on our way to the studio and while we were recording we were constantly watching the news. The studio was like 20 km away from Ostrava in Cech Republic so all of that was happening right behind the corner, on our way back home we had to drive a diffrent road cause the one we came in the morning was closed because it was under water by the time we left.

5. The production of "STARVE." stands out for its rawness and energy. What was the vision behind this approach to the song's sound?

Modern songs especially modern metal songs, they sound very clean, it’s kinda like „how clean distorted guitar can be ?” We didn’t want that. We wanted the loudness that modern productions have and we use some very common techniques like layering synths with the guitar, but we still wanted it to sound like it’s from the 90’s or something.

6. What role did your producer Jędrzej play in bringing this song to life, and how did his expertise influence the final result?

Jędrzej is a musician on it’s own. He makes deathcore. Super heavy music, so we knew he’s gonna fit the role. He can make the heavy parts of the song more heavy and he is amazing producer. We trust him and working with him is literally like just hanging out with a friend cause he is a friend haha. He is also a great singer and he helped me so much with my vocals and the whole process of getting them to sound good.

7. The recording process involved unique techniques, like using five microphones for clean guitar. What other unconventional methods or surprises came up during the sessions?

We just did lots of things for fun, experimetning with stuff. We used five microphones cause we didn’t know which one to choose, and then we were listening one take five times and to be honest i don’t have any idea which one we finally pick. It could be all of them in the song actually. We layer the guitars with synth, wich is very common in modern production but we made it just to bring the guitars even more in the mix and make them more like wall of sound.

8. As your debut single, "STARVE." holds a special place for the band. What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away from it?

This song is about dopamine addiction, and i think the best message would be „put the phone down, let’s go do something.” I know it’s so cliché right now but its true.

9. The raw production style draws comparisons to Nirvana and Marilyn Manson. How do you balance heavy and melodic elements to create your signature sound?

We want to combine old with new on this record. We went back to the roots of the music we listen to and we try to bring them back with more modern writing style. It’s fun!

10. Can you share more about the other songs you’ve been working on? How does "STARVE." fit into your broader musical direction?

Every song we put out right now is something different, we have one song that is just short ambient piece of music with like digital glitches and stuff. The third song we release has a lots of pop punk influences. It’s like Green Day but with heavy breakdown.

11. What has been the most rewarding part of creating and releasing "STARVE." so far, and what challenges did you overcome during the process?

We all working our day jobs. Just like everyone else, it’s hard to find time sometimes to bring everyone together and make music but we are taking it very seriously, and we are hoping that maybe one day we don’t have to worry about that.

12. Looking ahead, what’s next for Point Nemo? Are there plans for an EP, album, or live performances to showcase your music?

We planing on releasing an EP. We want to play as many show/gigs as we can this year. We still making new music, so i think that is what we want and what comes next.
