The Total Sound Of The Undergound

Lelahel Metal

Nox Pulso fuse the raw energy of The Prodigy with the heaviness of Sepultura. With new singles, an upcoming album, and a major festival appearance, 2025 promises intense, genre-blurring chaos.

1. Nox Pulso have been described as "the energy of The Prodigy and the ferocity of Sepultura" - how do you feel about that comparison?

It's spot on. We're what would happen if Sepultura cut up break beats or if The Prodigy used more guitars and verses. Dance and Metal have kind of coexisted before but where or of those styles are calling the shots, we're aiming right down the middle, between the eyes.

2. You recently released 2 new singles, none of these appeared on your debut album (Songs from the Wastelands). Can you tell us about these releases?

These singles are part of the journey towards the next album. That album is written and good to go, so we know absolutely where we are headed, but a couple of the new releases are a little different to them. We are just about to release a new single, a cover of Nine Inch Nails' SIN, which was requested by a label for a tribute album. It's definitely not "part of our direction" but was fun to do!

3. When can we expect to see the new album released?

"No Exit" is out 7 February 2025, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHa4fHJHeBU and "SIN" is released 7 March 2025. Another new song will appear on the https://resistanz.co.uk/ sampler CD, limited run and only available at the festival. That song is "Goddamn 1993" and is also unlikely to appear on the new album as it was written just for the festival release.

4. How do you go about creating new music when you both live in different cities?

We both have home studios, and send files back and forth in little demo snippet form, right through to full mix stems. This music couldn't exist before this time. Tech wise, paying for enough studio time to do things the way we do, in the old musical universe, would have been totally prohibitive. We both needed to live our lives to this point and that took us to different places, musically and geographically. I wonder if this would even happen if we were closer?! It's impossible to say.

5. Do you fit in any particular music scene? How do you relate to other bands within the rock and metal landscape?

Duncan goes to gigs pretty regularly and hosts a specialist industrial radio show on TotalRock radio. We always watch the other bands who we play with live, and Matt is the type who likes to keep up with them and support them on social media - the nice ones do the same for us sometimes, too haha! - We don't necessarily fit in a scene with any of them, though, certainly not based on the sound of our music - unless you consider being a creative and making music, film, art, as a scene. If you wanted to join "our scene?" — Start by going out to raves and metal clubs. Then throw your phone in the bin.

6. What are the lyrical themes on the new single, No Exit? Is there a deeper message beyond the energy?

We try to make the songs open ended enough for people to find their own alignment with what is being said. But on a surface level, No Exit simply means that the overwhelming lures in modern life are a trap, and not to be trusted. But that removing yourself from this place would equally not be an escape.

7. What will 2025 bring next for Nox Pulso?

Very shortly, we will be playing the Resistanz festival in the UK - probably the biggest show in the country of this sort, with a host of fantastic bands. That will be accompanied by our contribution to the festival CD (extremely limited quantities) and more shows over summer, leading up to the new album, TWO. Expect more rave energy pounding from a metal heart. So if you like the sound of that, come join us for the ride.
